"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Happy Birthday to my dad!!

I know I normally don't do birthday posts for our parents, but I just want to honor my daddy today :)

Happy Birthday, Dad!  I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate you and all that you do for us.  You are so incredibly generous toward us, and so amazing to us.  You are an OUTSTANDING grandpa.  We appreciate more than we can say your example of hard work, dedication and extreme love for your family.  Thank you!

Here are some random pics of the birthday boy...

We all love you so much, dad!   Hope you have a very happy birthday!

a weekend with abel :)

We were so excited to watch our sweet nephew Abel this weekend!  Aaron and Jill headed back home for a marriage retreat with their home church, and they left Abel here with us.  It was really fun to spend lots of time with Abel--I feel like I don't get to spend too much time with him.  It might have something to do with the fact that there are LOTS of other cuties running around, vying for our attention...

Abel is SUCH as sweetie.  He is so smiley...if he is at all sad about anything, all we have to do is just say "Peek a boo!" and he gets a HUGE smile on his face.  He is easily entertained :)  And just so cute.

(forgive the bad picture...taken by one of my well-meaning kiddos)  ;)

Our kids loved having Abel, too.  I let Halle try feeding him baby food today!  She loves being a mommy.

Thanks for leaving Abel with us, A and J!  He was so sweet--glad you could get away after a very long week, too :)

kid-less.

Although I miss my kiddos, I am enjoying this quiet time!  Thanks for watching them for a couple of days, mom and dad--we appreciate it!

Looking forward to spending Valentine's Day with this guy.  I love you, Natie!
(thanks for the picture, Sarah!)

a sledding date with kaine and halle :)

Nathan had the idea to go sledding tonight!  I wasn't quite as sure about it...mostly because I don't love putting tons of clothes on to be freezing in the snow. But Aaron and Jill graciously agreed to watch Layla and Daisy, so I had no excuses :)  And actually, I'm kind of kidding...I was excited to go with just Kaine and Halle!

At the top of the hill...

Kaine loved it!  He would just leap onto his sled and fly down the hill.  (forgot to mention...the hill we went sledding on is huge, and the snow was totally packed down.  So we would seriously fly down and we had to drag our feet to avoid ramping into the parking lot!  Crazy!)

Halle loved it too...for awhile.  The third time down she went so far that she crashed into our van!  She didn't get hurt at all, but I think it scared her a little :)  So after that she just wanted to sit on her sled and watch us.

I decided to quit and hang out with my Rae Rae.  It was fun :)

We told them we could stop and get some hot chocolate afterwards...you know, since we just spent over an hour freezing our toes off.  But go figure...they both wanted ice cream!  Brrr...

Love these two!!  Thanks so much, A and J, for watching Layla and Daisy!

william.

Nathan has this thing that he likes to do.  I think he does it just to get a reaction out of me :)

When our kids are young, Nathan will come up with a comparison (usually a famous person) for them.  For example, when Kaine was a baby (like 9-12 months), Nathan thought he looked like Chris Farley.  Believe me, that got a reaction out of me!  Kaine was my first baby and yes, he was a chubby baby, but really...Chris Farley??

Another example is when Layla would have leggings on with a diaper underneath, Nathan said she looked like Shrek.  So you see, comparisons like that. :)

This is the latest one...you will have to tell me if you think Nathan is right about this.

Daisy's hair is starting to grow!  However, it is a little longer in the front (and in the very back--picture a mullet).  But is is cute!

Here is the sweetie:

And Nathan says she looks like this guy:

William Henry Harrison. (9th President of the United States).

At least I know he is kidding:)

But just so I can tell him "I told you so"...what do you think?  Do you think my baby girl looks like William?

Oh, and also, we had a ton of fun with my parents last weekend! This is the ONLY picture I took...but it is a good one :)

Have a great week!

much excitement in our apartment...

For a visit from these two!  So very thankful that we still live close enough to home for visits from our parents.  Excited to spend the weekend with you, dad and mom!
