This summer, Nathan had a great idea to create a garden behind our villa! I know most everyone who reads this blog will probably laugh at this, but I have NEVER done any gardening before. It is very new to me! (and she is going to be a missionary, you ask?? I know...I am thinking the same thing!)
Since we didn't arrive at the villa and get our garden started until very late in the spring, and we will be leaving mid-August, Nathan planted the veggies that wouldn't need much time. Therefore, we have a TON of radishes and a TON of lettuce! Praise the Lord for the lettuce, but I don't really feel the same about the radishes :)
Kaine and Halle have been helpful, too. They are learning how to recognize when to pick the veggies, and also how to clean/wash it. It has been great for them! And by the way, Nathan is the ringleader of all of this--I still don't know the first thing about gardening. I am slowly learning, though :)
It is really pretty exciting to go out and cut lettuce for our supper. I like feeling like a pioneer woman :) Thankfully, we LOVE salad!

It's fun to se how proud Kaine & Halle are of their weedless garden. It really is pretty much weed free.

hehe, I liked your missionary comment! :)
hehe, you do make me laugh! I LOVE gardening, although I've never done lettuce or radishes!
Don't know if you've ever tried to roast a radish. A little olive oil, season salt and carrots and onions if you like. 400 degrees till tender. Very good.

fun way to get your kids involved & seize the moment : ) my kids love gardening too!
Good for you! I tried to be a "pioneer woman"...and found that I hate gardening :)
Rache, Your radishes are very good. We had them in our salads the other night for supper. The taste of them brought back memories of gardening when i was a kid. Back then we loved them straight out of the garden (after we washed them of course). :)
