"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

goodbye to the foofs!

For the past four years, Daisy has slept with her "foofs".  (You may wonder why we call pacifiers "foofs"?  Good question!  I think Halle called them when she was a baby and it just stuck with our family!)

Back when Daisy turned 3 (April 2014), I told her, "You will probably have to give up your foofs now that you are three..."

To which Nathan said, "Oh...let's just let her keep them a little longer."  Haha!  That was a whole year ago!  You can tell she is our last kid--it's not easy to give up your baby :(

So...she just turned four last week!  And she still LOVES her foofs!

But Nathan and I decided that it. was. time.  No more foofs for our Daisy girl.  Sigh.  So bittersweet--all you parents out there might understand how it is!  And many of you are probably thinking, Seriously?  Four years old???  Lol.  I know, I know. :)

Okay, so this weekend was the big weekend!  Nathan gave Daisy a few options of ways to get rid of her foofs, and Daisy chose...to bury them!  She said that way, someday if kids are digging in the ground, and they find the foofs, then they can suck on them!  Haha!  Great idea, Daisy!

One last time to put them in her mouth...

In the bag, ready for burial...

She was totally fine with this!  Didn't seem the least bit sad!  Probably a sign that we could have done this waaaaay sooner.  But oh well, I guess!

We are so proud of Daisy, and so completely IN LOVE with her!  She is an absolute joy.  And growing up way too fast!!

Oh Rachel, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only parent who lets their kids have paci's past 2! Our youngest Jacki turns 3 in August and I've already been talking about it. I let her use it during the day too, so that extra bad! I always tell people it's more about me not wanting to give it up! I'm so thankful so transitioned well!

Good job Daisy. It's hard to believe you are 4 already.

Joy, we also let Daisy use hers during the day, too sometimes! Lol. I am a huge fan of paci's! I don't really think they cause too much harm :) (telling myself that anyway!) Make a parent's life easier in those first few years!! :) Hope it goes well for Jacki too!! and don't feel bad if you want to let her keep it longer--although I will admit that 4 years old is a bit extreme :) :)

I think we moms were under waaaayyy too much pressure to take away pacis when you and Jill were younger. It was like when you turned 2 you were suddenly too old for pacis!!! I am all for letting them hang on to them:) And YAY Daisy! good job:) love you and can't wait to see you!!

Carrie--we are in the same boat with Layla! She still sucks her thumb and she is 5 1/2...not sure what to do about that, either! Lol. I figure she will just grow out of it--hopefully?? :)
