"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

our detroit church family.

Back when we lived up in Jackson, MI (during our Bible training at New Tribes Bible Institute), we attended a church in the Detroit area.  We had to drive an hour (just one way!) every Sunday, and honestly...at first I was hesitant.  Two hours of driving every Sunday sounded like a lot to me, back when our kiddos were 5, 3, 1 and 4 months old.

HOWEVER.  There are no words to descibe how incredibly thankful we are that we made our Detroit church our home church for those two years.  The believers in that church are amazing.  They took us in, and welcomed us and our kids with open arms.  They loved us and were so hospitable.  And it continues!

We were so excited to visit our Detroit church this past weekend, for the first time in over a year!  We were abundantly blessed as Dana and Beth hosted us on Saturday for supper and the evening, and overnight.  Dana and Beth, thank you for your hospitality!  They also hosted others for supper and Nathan and I did a small group presentation about our future ministry in Papua New Guinea.  Then the next day we went to church, which was wonderful.  And then another family hosted us and others for supper and the evening, and we did another small group presentation!  Thanks so much, Mark and Kelly!

Our kids had fun too, connecting with friends.  And notice Haley, the older girl at the table with all the kiddos?  Yep, she is amazing.  Our kids love Haley!

Yep, our kids appreciated Dana and Beth's house and hospitality a LOT!!

(I just had to include this picture...it cracked me up!)

Daisy got to nap like a queen at Mark and Kelly's house on Sunday afternoon :)

Oh yep, there's Haley.  She is so great with kids!

Speaking of great with kids, Mark and Kelly have 2 of those too!  Carrie and Grace were awesome as they babysat the kids while Nathan and I did our presentation on Sunday evening.  Thank you ladies!  We appreciate it so much!

Carrie gave Halle and her friend Collette "Elsa" hairstyles...and they were loving it!

And then they even did a mock "Coronation Day" ceremony for Halle!  It was so cute :)  (and sorry for those of you who haven't seen Frozen!)

Halle and Collette are both six...they had lots of fun together!

And I had fun reconnecting with MY friends!  It was so great to catch up with them :)
Here I am with Amber...

...and Kelly and Laura...what fantastic women :)

What a great weekend!  We are so thankful for the Body of Christ...we feel so blessed to have multiple church families!  Can't wait to visit our Detroit church again :)
